PH-80 floor lamp by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen
Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen
Design: 1925 | Manufactured: 1974
This iconic floor lamp provides a comfortable, glare-free light based on the principle of Poul Henningsen’s reflective three-shade system (Screen ratio of approximately 3:2:1), which directs most of the light downward. It shines sideways and on itself, providing a soft radiance from within its core. This edition is white with red and black accents. The red screen offers a warm, atmospheric light, and the white screen gives an elegant and fresh light. The frame is made of high-gloss chromed steel and continues into a black base of pressure-moulded ABS.
Poul Henningsen, or PH, was a Danish architect and designer. The PH-80 lamp and the PH Artichoke are two design examples best known for their inventive construction and diffused light. His light fixtures were manufactured by Danish lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen, with which Henningsen would build a lifelong working relationship.
